Foculin and 10?!

Foculin and 10?

My daughter was diagnosed with ADD and is 10. Her pediatrician had given me a prescription for Foculin 5mg's. Before I fill it I would like to know from others the outcome. Our family has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. Both my parents are recovering addicts and I know that the medication prescribed is a narcotic. Will this affect anything. Her doctor said it should not affect her but will keep her focused on the task at hand. Any input would be great! Thank you.

My mother had also sent me info on the drug and told me all of the side affects and I am giving it second thoughts. Between the stomach cramps and the speeding heart beat I am really thinking of tossing it.

My doctor once perscribed Foculin for me, though not for ADD. The point is, my wife went online and looked up possible side-effects and said there were so many that she felt uncomfortable about me staying on the drug. But I needed help and thought it was best to at least give it a try. (I take bipolar medication and occasionally a sleep aid for chronic insommia.)

I gave it a try, but within a week threw the whole bottle away. My heart and breathing rates seemed affected by it and that made it extremely difficult to focus on my work. My doctor later informed me that in some cases Foculin can trigger anxiety attacks.
