Why Can I Not Sleep?

For a few weeks now the most sleep I've gotten is 3 hours. I have tried music, baths, stretching, warm milk, my best friend even tried talking to me for a while, but no luck. It has been affecting me greatly, I have issues paying attention, I doze off for a few minutes without realizing it, when I doze of I mistake reality for dreams. I'm getting worried, I feel tired but I just cannot sleep. My friend thinks it's because I'm stressed but if I am I can't figure out about what. My step mom is a occupational therapist and she says it's because I messed up my sleep time since it's summer, but I've tried everything, I've layed in bed all night with no tv or lights..ugh. I need advice..

sometimes your body is tired but your mind is wide awake... I'm an ex-addict in recovery and for the first year my sleep schedule was whacked...here are some of the things I did that just might work for you.... If you lay in bed with no lights or TV and your mind is still thinking away.. try writing about those same thoughts... i.e. a journal, a poem even.. after you write for a few minutes about those thoughts put it down and try to sleep.. and repeat if needed.... also cut out any soda after 6pm drink water, tea or juice...as well as junk
food ..these things really helped me hopefully they might help you... even ask your mom about these suggestions I'm sure she'll agree...

P.S. remember you aren't the only one with this problem... if it continues you may want to ask a doctor... but avoid the use of sleeping aids if at all possible.... most Americans have become dependent on such drugs as a way to cope with things.... please try some of the suggestions given before looking into a chemical solution....
