my friend has a serious problem, hes a complusive shopper. is thier a class or something that can help him?

The only thing that I could find was a toll free number that refers people to treatment programs for such things as compulsive shopping and many other addictions. It's 1-800-993-3869. This is a nation wide number but they may be able to refer your friend to a place in New York.
Also you or your friend should call the local mental health center in your area and ask them about this. They can probably find a program for compulsive shoppers in your area or they may even be offering such a program themselves.
