Answers:

unfortunately a lot of the drugs that help schizophrenia or bipolar or depression cause both weight gain and a decrease in insulin production....

it is hard to lose weight on these antipsychotics or antidepressants.....

one can develop a syndrome known as metabolic syndrome which can include diabetes, weight gain, and decreased insulin production.. it also causes fat to be gained around the middle....the stomach area...making it more dangerous than fat gained elsewhere....

i have schizoaffective disorder...am on antipsychotics and have to have my blood tested all the time to make sure i am not diabetic....
