I do not know what to do, I cannot quit feeling this way...?

I am suffering from depression, I know it because I had post partum depression several years ago. Yesterday and today I just keep crying and crying over nothing. My husband said to stay home and not go to work but I wanted to come because hopefully this will help me. I am currently on Flouexetine twice a day. Please help, I just do not know why I feel this way again, there are moments where I just cannot stop crying. I do not want to see a psyciatrist again because all they do is give me tons of medicine to make me feel sleepy the whole day!!

First question is How long have you been taking fluoxetene? This SSRI class of medication can take several weeks before the therapeutic dosage is reached. If, in fact, you have clinical depression, there is no need to take "tons of medicine". The SSRI class of drugs are very effective if taken in the appropriate dose. If you continue to feel this morose then please tell your doctor. He/She can adjust the dosage or switch you to another medication that may be more effective for you. Don't forget....of ALL the mental illnesses, depression is the most successfully treatable.
