Is anyone taking fluoxetine and effexor together?!

Question:

Is anyone taking fluoxetine and effexor together?

I have searched the internet for answers and have found none. What are the side effects?

Answers:

Possible side effects of fluoxetine (Prozac) include anxiety, headache, flu-like symptoms, fever, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, insomnia, nervousness, somnolence (excessive sleepiness), dizziness, tremors, sweating, and heartburn.

Possible side effects of Effexor include nausea, apathy, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, veritgo, dry mouth, sexual dysfunction, sweating, impulsivity, increased blood pressure, decreased appetite, anxiety, and memory problems.

As you can see, some of the side effects overlap, and some are unique to the medications. I would imagine that you could possibly experience side effects from both drugs, but I am unaware of (and was unable to locate, with research) any specific side effects resulting from taking both at once.

If you have questions about possible interactions, call your pharmacist and explain your concerns. He or she is best qualified to assist you.
