Help with depression and suicide?!

Question:

Help with depression and suicide?

I need help with my extreme depression. This morning suicide seem like a great idea. I started researcing what pills to take and how many. I went through my dads medicine bag to look for a container of pills. I was going to kill myself but for some reason i stopped. How can i calm down my depression? Most of you are probably going to say "go see a doctor" but i asked my dad and he wont get me one. He doesnt think my depression is real. I have even asked my mom three times. Im afraid that i will really commit suicide one day. And im only 14 so i cant drive to a doctor myself.
Is there a way calm down depression while your alone at home. And when your depressed it doesnt go away easily, for the lucky people that never had it.

Please go to Yahoo search under "The Last Temptation of George Petrie". This is my personal story of what depression did to my life. My depression started when I was your age. I also had panic attacks. At that time people didn't know as much about these illnesses as they do now. They ignored my complaints and just thought that it was "bad behavior". I struggled miserably and made it to adulthood. It wasn't easy but I survived, even though I was miserable most of the time. I hid my feelings because I didn't want people to judge me as being weird or "mental". Finally I simply "burned out" and ended up being hospitalized in critical condition from a suicide attempt. It is absolutely imperative that you speak to a counselor at your school. These people are trained to recognize the symptoms of depression and get you headed in the direction of professional help. You are so right....depression doesn't go away easily.....but remember neither does diabetes or any other organic disease. You can't just meditate them away or exercise them away. People think you can do that with depression but it just doesn't work that way. It is an illness that is defined by brain chemistry. The only treatment is medication and therapy. I never had a lot of therapy but the medication took away the miserable gnawing pain of depression. Please, please talk to a counselor at school. If you are on summer vacation then check to see if you have a mental health facility in your area. Call them and explain what is going on and they can give you advice with respect to meeting with a therapist. Please, please don't ignore your feelings. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of and is easily treated. Also, please take time to read my story to see how long I ignored my symptoms and how they ruined my life. I ended up homeless, with nothing but a few personal possessions in a paper bag. I wish I had reached out for help when I was younger. My life would have been happier and much simpler. best wishes to you.. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me at GPetrie868@aol.com if I can give you any moral support.
