Answers:

Well, to start with, the fact that you're dreaming is a good sign for your sleep-- you only dream when you're in a deep REM sleep, which is healthy. But if your dreams are emotionally exhausting you, try to think of why you might be dreaming such heavy situations. Are you thinking about issues before bed that upset you? Are you eating before bed? (That can mess with your digestion, which takes away from your body resting and causes your body to focus on digesting.) Try listening to calming music and making sure you're fully relaxed before bed. Another way to at least try not to remember your dreams would be to work out or swim during the day so that you are physically exhausted-- you're less likely to remember your dreams that way.

There's no way to actually prevent dreams, but you could try learning about lucid dreaming, which entails being able to focus in your dreams and take control of them, which should let you be able to end them sooner, or make the subject matter in them less tiring.

Good luck!
