Is it normal to cry just to relieve stress?!

Question:

Is it normal to cry just to relieve stress?

I did yesterday... I cried about how my mother suffered, how I miss my brothers, and how I've felt rejection my whole life... No one pissed me off, I just wanted to, and it relieved a lot of pain I've been holding inside. Is that normal?

Answers:

Absolutely! Crying is nature's way of expressing deep pain and sorrow! People cry more than you realize, I am sure. Most people do it where other people can't see them like in the shower or in bed when they are trying to go to sleep.

The fact that you cried is a good sign because you are able to feel emotion. I am 49-years-old and have cried buckets of tears. In fact, I cried for four days straight last week when I learned that my daughter is moving clear across the country.

If you hadn't cried, there is a good chance that you would become angrier and angrier as each day passed due to loneliness and sadness you are constantly suffering from.

You don't want to turn into a bitter, hateful, cold, indifferent, caloused, hardened individual who is suddenly incapable of feeling such emotions as true sadness, regret and sorrow.

This world is a cruel place and we are forced to endure so much sadness. Crying is good for you. Try to look on your life cup as 1/2 full rather than 1/2 empty. Things could be worse! I am sure you have many things to be thankful for!

There was a young father who attended my church. His wife and four children were all killed in a horrible freeway accident. I am certain he has suffered much more than you and I. So, we should both be thankful that we haven't had to go through something so horrific as that!

Keep your chin up! Hang in there! Here are some hugs for you!
