I stopped taking lexapro, what adverse effects can I expect?!

Question:

I stopped taking lexapro, what adverse effects can I expect?

I was taking lexapro for 4 months 10 mg a day. I quit taking it last week. It killed my sex drive and made me gain weight. What if any effects should I be expecting? ot should I have stopped taking it all? I really didnt feel like it was helping me anyways.

This is a tough question to answer. If you were taking lexapro for depression or anxiety as most people do, abruptly stopping your dose could have many side effects. I stopped taking lexapro on my own a few years ago after taking it for a year +. The first two weeks I felt a little dizzy here and there and then that passed. Two months later it hit me like a brick wall. For lack of a better word I CRASHED hard. All of the symptoms I was using lexapro to help with suddenly where worse and overwhelming. I started to take meds again and spoke to my doctor that advised that lexapro should be weened off slowly so that your body can adjust. Every person is different but I could not see myself going back to being non-medicated. I take paxil now but it has completely changed my life for the better.
