Length of Stages of Grief?!

Question:

Length of Stages of Grief?

my boyfriend recently lost his best friend. I do everything i can for him and I know that grief can last a very long time. The only problem is my mom. She yells at me about him because she thinks he should be over it. Does anyone know of any like information or websites about grief so i can show her that it's normal to still be grieving after only 3 months?

I do know the stages of grief

Answers:

Oh my gosh, only 3 months. As a mental health professional I do not even begin to get concerned unless someone has not made any progress with their grief in six months.
You mention the stages of grief. Kubler-Ross is the classic. The stages are: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and finally Acceptance. One does not go through these stages in order, but jump around as each day of grief brings up different issues. There is no time frame for each stage each person grieves in their own way and in their own time.
Be supportive and let him grieve.
