I want to revamp, reinvent, make myself over, any ideas?!

Question:

I want to revamp, reinvent, make myself over, any ideas?

this isnt just my appearance, its everything that i want to make over. whenever i come back to school from the summer im always a new person... but this summer, nothing has really happened and im going into highschool so there should be like a HUGE change, but i dont fel anything. Ive cut my hair short, which is a huge difference for me but i dont want to stop there. I want to change my outlook on life, i want to make myself over, i want to become mature, and most of all... i want to be able to find myself. i want to be able to be myself. but i cant do that if i dont know who myself is, and iv found that im really struggling in that particular area. and i know im young and im supposed to find out about myself in college and all, but i dont know, i just want to know who i am, what i like, not be influenced by other's ideas... any suggestions?

One of the problems, or the wonderful thing about being a teenager, going into high school, is that you've got the whole thing in front of you. But, it's hard to know which direction to take. What do I want? thing.

But you don't have enough information, YET. So you don't know if you want to be a pharmacist, musician (hard life), doctor/laywer thing...which means 'success' and stuff because you don't know enough about life itself to make that kind of decision. So make yourself go forward. Do the BEST you can in school. Make it so those teachers can't ask you ANYTHING about that course that you don't know. Get 100 on every test if you can. That drive will take you forward. You'll learn a lot. You'll move into knowing yourself, how you handle challenges, how to meet people, to react to people.

Growing up involves time. The setting goals thing is a good idea. It works for a lot of people. Gives one direction, purpose, time line, etc. But lots of people don't feel they know enough to set that kind of goal. Yes, little goals work. But in reality, you already know what to do. We all do, all did.

What kind of adult do you want to be? Well, that's a hard question for a freshman in high school. You SHOULD be a teenager when you are in your teens. You should be tasting the different flavors of life. You should also have enough internal 'knowledge' of the rights and wrongs to not be pulled into situations that ultimately harm you, which will ultimately harm your children, husband to be...etc.

So testing those new drugs maybe not such a good idea. Having sex is going to happen sooner or later...that's the nature of nature. But to do it with the right person, at the right time, using 'protection' if you are not with your husband, is a smarter choice than deciding to do what you want because you are old enough to do what you want. You're not.

As a freshman, you are at the beginning of becoming an adult. Parts of you already are. Mentally you are not. If you were to give advice to someone who is entering the first grade, what would you say? If you talk to a senior in high school, they'll look at you like you look at first graders, and that's ONLY 4 years away. Imagine what a senior in college must think of a senior in high school. Then in a blink of an eye you look back at when you were in college. If you live a normal life span, you'll be in your late 80's or 90's before you go. That means that you'll be OUT OF SCHOOL for 70 years! So enjoy school. It IS the funnest part of the whole trip.

Being cool isn't being an adult. Respecting others for who they are, not whether or not they have to have a face full of metal, or wear dark or light makeup, or dressing cool. All that's OUTSIDE the person, it's all fluff.

Who are you inside? Are you kind? Are you generous? Are you respectful? Do you respect your parents? Do you help your siblings or just criticize them because they're just stupid? Is everyone else stupid but YOU?

When you put your hand out...is it open to help or lend a hand, or is it a closed fist to harm? Do you blindly go with the crowd? Or do you have enough respect for yourself to know what's wrong is wrong and NOT go along with the crowd.

It takes time to grow up. Studying in school gives you that time, and gives you the tools with which to move forward when you are older. High school gives you the basics. None of it is advanced stuff, even in the advanced classes. Be in the school play. Be on a team of so me sort. Be in the band if you play an instrument. Take art. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't use some sort of drawing to make a point in my profession. Not ONE DAY! Being in a play teaches you how to learn. How to become. How that character would feel...and so how he'd act if that really happened to him. It'll teach you how to be resourceful.

Being on a team teaches you how to train. Train for yourself, your life, your sport. How to learn from those who already do that sport. How to be part of something bigger than just you.

It's not about hair. Or piercings, or tattoos, or short pants, or skirts, or being in the "IN" group or not. 20 years from now you won't even remember who was in the in group.

That you can see you need to look at yourself, to criticize yourself as not being the person you'd like to be is a sign of budding maturity. You're on the right tract. Don't get discouraged. You will fail here and there. You will get fired at this or that job. You will fall in love. You will have a broken heart. Of all, the heart thing is the one that is amazingly painful. You will lose friends. You will be betrayed one way or another. If you've the education to have seen how the world has been able to handle these same issues, it'll be easier.

Be yourself. There's NO ONE else on earth like you. We need you.
