Question:

How to tell your friends you're depressed...personal stories if possible??

they don't suspect a thing because i am the ultimate person at putting on a mask. i may be crying, then you come in my room and i just do a 360 laughing and joking..i want to let them know, but i don't want them to leave me thinking i'm a mental whose always a downer who spends her time crying and listening to emo music..please help!!

if it's possible, could you tell me your personal story on how you did it? i mean, how to bring it in regular convo. i don't want to be like:

hey whats up?
nothing. i'm depressed and have been for a few months now..you??

that's so awkward and i don't know how to do it any other way..

Personal story: I have been there.Friends don't believe you and sometimes they have the worst reaction because they do not understand what's going on.Make an appointment with a counselor and keep it.Tell your friends straight out.You feel depressed more than usual and you feel it's a problem.Telling them will make it better.Being able to talk to a couselor will give you an unbiased way to see things.Make sure you see a counselor not a physciatrist.And go to another one if the first thing they suggest is getting on a drug.Also see a doctor and get a regular checkup and tell them about it.They can give you good medical advice and do testing to see if it is more than depression.For me talking about it gave me less anxiety and I started to change my way of thinking.I contacted The Midwest Center.Best money I ever spent because it taught me how to deal with it and how to see life as the glass is half full not half empty.
