Is it time for us to rethink what we have been taught so that things can actually get good for all of us?

"Personally, I try to question my motives and the ideas that my parents tried to teach me. I try to find out if i believe in things because it's what i was taught or if i have formed that opinion via reasoning and my own experiences."

Sometimes others that are suppose to be really trustworthy and really know what they are saying can be saying the wrong things and I think that may not always be on purpose. If there is a bigger reason for the wrong to be thought of as right, and then we may have more of a tendency to think it is right. Have you ever noticed that you may form one way of thinking until your experiences your own knowledge about things change and after your experiences have changed you may think something entirely different? Such as with abortion, religion, politics, value of your work, maybe? There are probably other things too that one could think of this is enough for now. Do you always think the same day after day or does that change as you gain new knowledge?

Answers:

Can you elaborate? How do you know that we were all taught the same thing?

Personally, I try to question my motives and the ideas that my parents tried to teach me. I try to find out if i believe in things because it's what i was taught or if i have formed that opinion via reasoning and my own experiences.

After new info was added: I'm sure that I think the same day after day for the most part. We all do. I think it takes a situation or experience to change our thinking.

I also think that what you or I may view as being "wrong" or bad for people, may be good for some and therefore not "wrong" to someone else.

What I have learned is that there is no 1 ideal. That you can't assume that if everyone in the world does this 1 thing... that all will benefit from it. Everyone has diffferent needs and desires and you may be alienating one person by meeting someone else's needs.

My thought is that as long as you can prove nobody was physically or emotionally damaged by your actions (speeding, drugs, prostitution) and that you considered the consequences beforehand, nothing should be illegal. We should all be considerate and intelligent adults (though I know we all aren't).

I honestly think you should repost this question if you want more answers. It's buried and nobody tends to look at the older, buried stuff.
