I'm asking about the fact that weather or not you have a dual diagnosis you are treated for one anyway. This is done on 90+% of psych wards

Answers:

You won't get a dual diagnosis unless you ahve a substance abuse problem, and for the people that are both mentally ill { i hate that term.. but lack a better one } and addicted to something it helps them more than treating just one problem at a time. It lowers relapse rates for both problems and provides more complete treatment, Overall i think it helps. Dual diagnosis, generally doesn't refer to things like being depressed and having an anxiety disorder but it's often used in the same way .
