Question:

When someone is giving up all addictions especially alcohol do you find that the weekends are longer?

When it comes time to go out an socialize I dont really do so that much ever since I stopped drinking. Its hard to be around people my age because for a lot of them fun= drinking. Im starting to go to AA meetings everyday but I still feel alone. I feel like I lead a double life. Going from meeting to meeting then my other self that seems perfectly fine. I know people say get a hobby or what not but lately every weekend I just wish I was tired enought to sleep the whole way through.

Answers:

It's a common thing for someone who has just started sobriety. Your whole life has been built up around the party scene. And, no, no, I can't say it enough, NO! Not everyone your age, or any age does drinking = fun. Only some people of your age, or my age, or any age is that true.

The AA meeting are a good start. Church is another. I'm not preaching, but you need to find people who understand and respect your current choice, and LEARN from them how do be entertain with and in situations that don't involve alcohol. Sometimes that means telling long term friends to hit the road. Not fun, but necessary to your life!

This is a small roadblock for you. Never forget that you are doing the right thing. Don't go back to the old life; there's nothing good there. Nothing
