Answers:

I came off it recently after seven years. It was quite unpleasant once I got down to 75 mg per day. I tried taking one 75mg every other day for a time, which worked, but then I was left with the 37.5 tablets and I realized after a month that as long as I was taking one a day I wasn't going to ever be able to stop.
The brain zaps were awful if I missed a dose, so what I did was take half a 37.5 for a couple of days, then (and it was fiddly) I began to break them into three and take a third per day. After a fortnight I was fine,. So the trick is, reduce the dose gradually and very slowly. It took me two years to stop taking it completely but I knew after the length of time I had been using it I had to do it gradually.
The best thing to do is take it while you need it, and then consult with your doctor about reducing it. Mine wasn't happy to reduce it, but I just felt I needed to start weaning off it.
It's not the nightmare you think, not if you're sensible and realise it's a very powerful drug and you have to handle weaning off it slowly
