I'm angry, what do i do?!

Question:

I'm angry, what do i do?

Recently I have been very unhappy and normally i'm a really soft-spoken person, in fact it's been said to me by friends that I'm too laid-back and accepting, but just recently I have found myself thinking really angry thoughts and sometimes saying really mean things and I think I am getting too angry. What are my options?

Answers:

Are you under more stress at the moment than normal? I know this last couple of weeks have been quite difficult for me and my daughter and I have found myself getting irritated by things that would usually be like water off a ducks back, And then pushing away people that try to make me feel better by telling me I'm 'strong' because while I know I am sometimes I just don't want to have to be.
Are you sleeping well? Maybe you think you are, but actually the sleep you are getting isn't restful?
What I tend to do when I feel I'm losing my patience with something or someone is go outside, a change of scenery is sometimes enough for me to re-evaluate things.
Seek out people that will make you feel better about yourself, that helps.
Are you finding it difficult to somehow accept the anger? I was never allowed as a child to express anger, it was considered to be one of the 'bad' emotions and so I did bottle everything up and turn it in on myself which was unhealthy. I still feel when I am angry and I express it that somehow I am a lesser person for it, but that's simply not the case, not for you either.
And the other thing is, sometimes you actually feel angry, simply because you feel angry. Sometimes it's a normal reaction to a situation, it's just if you're usually placid and laid back, people willl invariably throw their hands up in the air when you demonstrate an out of character emotion and make you feel that somehow you have no right. Sometimes you have every right.
