I am 43 years old and diagnosed bipolar. I have never had a job for longer than 2 years and now my problem is getting worse. I am on medication but am going through a kind of hard period. I tried to get social security disability several years ago on my own but was turned down. If I get a lawyer and try how long does it take to get benifits?

You would probably get SSI if you had not worked enough to have SSD. When you applied before and received the denial did you appeal? They are commonly refused the first time, but are passed the second. Of course depending on what the disability is. It would be worth a shot. It can take some time, but you receive back pay for the months waited.
