Please answer I am worried about this?!

Question:

Please answer I am worried about this?

I am most probably reacting to my citalopram, my rash has been spreading despite taking antihistimines. My doctor thinks the most probable cause is the citalopram and did assure that some people may not react to medication until 20 years down the line. Consequently he has stopped me suddenly, I have been on them for 9 weeks and I am really worried and scared what this may do to me.

I was bad when I went onto them and don't want to be that bad again, this is really making me anxious please help.

Here is my other question with more details

He is not going to put me onto another antidepressant until the rash has gone in a couple of weeks time, thankyou for your input though.

Answers:

I was taking citalopram for a couple months after a hospital stay, and it definitely made that better, but I felt that something else would work better. So I suddenly stopped taking it and went to Cymbalta. That made me break out and so I suddenly stopped that and started on Wellbutrin. That made me really dizzy so I suddenly stopped that and started on Effexor. I like that one. Anyway, I'm saying that with many of the newest antidepressants, there are usually very few problems with suddenly stopping as long as it is under the watch of your doctor and you are only switching to something else. My doctor said that citalopram is commonly prescribed first as it tends to target most of the common depression symptoms. But like most people, the first thing you try might not be the best, and there are many many options that you can try that will work better for you. There is no need to be anxious about switching meds. Just be sure to talk to your doctor anytime you have questions or concerns. It's their job!
