Question:
Eeek, need to stop my citalopram?
I have broken out in a rash, so the doctor is suddenly stopping the citalopram. I am really worried about any side effects I will get from this, and withdrawal symptoms.
I was doing well on citalopram with a recent relaspe but I have generally done well on them even if it did take 6 weeks. I have been on them for 9 weeks and I am worried about the depression returning whilst I am off them.
The doctor is not going to put me on to any other for a couple of weeks to give time for the rash to settle, I am really scared about starting an other antidepressants. I had really bad side effects when I first went onto citalopram which included obsessive thoughts for 2 weeks, and several overdoses, 2 of which were large, plus self harm which I have only just gotten over.
Any advice and experiances of stopping suddenly will be appreciated.

unfortunely it takes a while to find the right RX to treat depression and every person is different - not much help I know, just know that this happens to most of us until the right mix is found and then life settles down and the healing can begin
