How do I get myself to think outside the box?!
Question:
How do I get myself to think outside the box?
Answers:
If you're trying to solve a problem, take a clean sheet of paper and write the problem in the middle. Then write down the first thing that comes to mind and draw a line from the problem statement to your first thought. If your first thought triggers another thought, draw a line from your first thought to the next thought.
If you think of something completely different from your first thought, write that on a different portion of the paper and draw a line from it to the problem statement. If your second thought leads you to other thoughts, write those down and draw a line from your second thought to these next thoughts.
Keep adding new thoughts, no matter how absurd they seem. Let your mind roam free.
I hope I'm being clear. It's hard to describe this process - it's much easier to show it. But it's very difficult to show it here, when you can't use html.
