What does it feel like on xanax?

i was prescribed the generic xanax (Alprazolam) .50mg as needed...and lexapro at night 10mg...for depression and anxiety...today is my 3rd day on meds...i was told to take the xanax till the lexapro kicked in..havent taken xanax cuz i havent needed it yet..so i just wanted to know how it feels like to be on xanax...the doc said i can use it during the day time but i heard it makes u sleepy..what are the side effects? does it really help?
