By "zone", I mean that state of mind when virtually any kind of high performance becomes almost effortless.

Do a risk analysis, then take the most risk that you can afford while giving it very little weight in terms of how it affects your self-esteem. Michael Jordan was successful because he made more shot attempts than the average athlete, knowing that he would fail a lot in the process.
