Why do I stutter only when I try to talk to a girl?!

Question:

Why do I stutter only when I try to talk to a girl?

I just went to a conference where I was talking to large groups and many different people that were all important business contacts. I was a little nervous talking to some of them, but I didn't stutter at all.

I took a bus on the way back and there was this pretty girl about my age, and she was talking to some other people she had just met on the bus (all older women).

When I tried to open my mouth to get into the conversation, I felt like I couldn't get past the first letter. I finally got out what I wanted to say, but I stuttered a little, and tried to talk slowly. I was able to say a few more things, and once I started talking I didn't have any trouble finishing a sentence.

I don't understand why I have so much trouble trying to talk to a girl my age when I can handle every other situation.

Answers:

You just get very nervous because you don't want to sound stupid. Why not try to think of them as you sister or a guy. They may help for a little while.
