Question:
If you know someone that is bi polar and has spent time in the mental hospital already .?
WHAT if this person is talking crazy stuff .. like suicide and conqueriong the world ,,, but when she is questioned about it by others she denies it .. is there anything we can do to have her commited back to hospital for her own good.. will the police take her there or does she have to be willing to go? in ontario

I used to work in a mental hospital for 15 years. It really depends on where you are as far as the laws that govern involuntary commitment. In Illinois (US), the person must be a threat to themself, another person or unable to care for their own needs. I would call a crisis hotline in your area and they can probably help you figure out what the best course of action is. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to wait until they get very sick to get them back in for more treatment. Hope this helps. Susan
