Section 6 mental deficiency act 1913 help please?!

Question:

Section 6 mental deficiency act 1913 help please?

Does anyone have any info on this act, especially section 6.
I need to know if someone was detained under section 6 of the act, what is it that they are likely to have done, or been diagnosed as having?

Thanks for the answers so far (the first 4 of them) but can people please be specific to UK act as that is what is relevant to my query.
I just need to know what someone would have done to have been detained under section 6, the person would have been female.
Thanks.

Answers:

This is very similar to the Baker Act in the United States. It allows a governing body (generally assigned by a physician) to hold a person for a specified length of time if they present a threat of danger to themselves or others. It allows for a period of time to perform psychiatric evaluation to see if the patient needs further treatment. A certain percentage of people will be released after further investigation and others will be remanded for court ordered treatment.
