Worried for nothing??!

Question:

Worried for nothing??

I don't know whats wrong with me, but I have this horrible fear of HIV/AIDS....every time I sneeze, cough...feel a little hot...or sleepy I think that's it and i'm closer to the hospice...I'm not positive, but every time i sleep with my boyfriend i make him wear a condom, but when he doesn't I automatically think that's it, and I ALWAYS go to the urgent care to get checked for std's...i hate being this way...whats wrong with me???

yes there was a time when I was not worried, and every thing was good, I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and it all started as soon as the pg test came back pos.

Answers:

What's wrong is simple. You have a real acute anxiety disorder. That's the bad news. Now the good news. It is treatable. The problem with a panic attack is that you feel like you have to fight or flee, but there is nothing to fight and nowhere to flee. What you have to do is first go on some medication, and there are some good ones, to help ease your fear at the biological/chemical level and then see a psychologist to help you change the way you feel by changing the way you think. Don't listen to people who tell you to just think positive. If it were that easy, you'd feel better, right? Get the help you need and I assure you you'll feel better in a short amount of time.
