one doctor has said they shouldn't be taken together, and then my current doctor says it is fine and has me on both. the reason for not taking both together, i was told, is because they could raise serotonin levels too much? i don't know what that means....or why that is bad? i take cymbalta at night because it can make you sleepy and the welbutrin during the day because it wakes me up, gives me energy. the thing is that i take my cynbalta again that night and then i want to sleep for the entire next day. i am so tired. what is causing this? i sleep half my life away. i'm tired of being tired...

My good friend first too Cymbalta and it made her gain a LOT of weight. She took both for a while and then discontinued the Cymbalta and only takes Wellbutrin XL. She lost 20 lbs in about 10 weeks without doing ANYTHING.
She says she's more alert without the Cymbalta, but can sleep fine with the XL version of Wellbutrin taken once a day in the morning.
You might want to talk to your doctor about trying that.
