Hi. I have had the hair pulling disease called Trichotillomania since I was around age 11-12. I am now 16 years old. This is how my hair looked before and at the beginning of Trich: http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/9553/...

(my hair got darker as i got older) here it is now:

Not only is my hair very short from cutting, but I would rip chunks of hair inhalf so that's why it is uneven everywhere. I just want my old beautiful hair back. I really do. I feel like somebody stole it from me. Sometimes I just get so sick of trying so i start to feel like just giving up. so I am looking for words of inspiration? Thank you

I too suffer from Trichotillomania. It used to be very hard for me to go out in public. I know for me I started going to therapy and that has helped tremendously but also something else that helped was talking to people online in groups or who suffer from the same problem that can empathize. Please don't give up. I know sometimes I used to feel and think that it was going to be impossible to quit and I will not be a hypocrite and tell you that I do not have any urges whatsoever but it has improved greatly and the HUGE bald spot that I had for years and years is slowly getting smaller. I have found other things to do when I get the urges. I know different things will work for different people. If I find myself in an anxiety provoking situation which normally is when I wanted to pull I will write, exercise, journal, read, play with a string ( feels like hair and is doing something with my hands) or listen to relaxing music.
