basically will waking up for a couple of minutes and sleep again affect the 8-10 hours of sleep. does it still count

Answers:

It depends on what you do during those 10 minutes.

If you are able to lay back down in bed and fall asleep again almost instantly, it probably wont affect your cycle. If it takes you another 10-20 minutes to fall asleep, you'll need more sleep to recover.
