How can we get rid of "Self Talking"?!

How can we get rid of "Self Talking"?

Whatever I talk to any person in face to face but I talk more to in the absence of that person. Specially whom I fear to talk to in front. Any good way to relief from it?

Hi:

I think that we all do this, some more than others. Me personally, I talk to myself ALL day long. Sometimes I will even answer myself (I hate when I do that) But in certain situations like confrontations, I hate confrontations and will avoid them at all costs when ever possible.

In some of these cases I will write a letter as I I were right there speaking to that person and actually send it give it hatever means to get it to them.

I always had a difficult time with this way because I always felt it was wrong, or I was being a coward, etc.

But since I do go to therapy for other reasons (I have Bipolar), I have come to learn thru the years that this is completely acceptable. Once I not only knew it was ok, but when i believed it was ok, what a relief! Now I have NO problems at all with jotting a letter to some one good or bad. on paper or via email.

There is no harm done, it relieves you of some stress about talking to yourself and many other benefits. I know many people that prefer to write instead of talk. Also, I find it difficult to talk at times because I have ADHD and sometimes my mind jumps from here to there and back again so there is another reason I find it easier.
