Depression and fear of having to look for a new job after 8 years?!

Question:

Depression and fear of having to look for a new job after 8 years?

I had worked for the same healthcare organization for about 8 years. After transfering to a new hospital for a friend, (she was the department manager) I was treated to disrespect and lack of appreciation for the excellent job I was doing. (this is healthcare, the company wanted profit, I wanted patient care, and profit....Was not allowed) my life was a living hell. I quit after 10months, I made it longer than my friend, she quit after 6 mos. I started a new job, working for a friend, and that ended friday, and not on the best of terms. Don't work for friends. But know I am deeper in depression, started after my transfer, and has gotten worse. Bills are pyling up, I feel sluggish and unmotivated. I have read the Secret, and 3 other self help books, started a new hobby, but still depressed. What to do???

Answers:

If your depression continues unabated and is effecting your day to day functions then you should consider seeing an MD and having him/her put you on an SSRI such as Prozac. You need to keep your mental health in tip top shape and not let yourself spiral downward. I am very familiar with what can happen if you let this go untreated. If you go to Miami New Times on the WEB and search "The Last Tempation of George Petrie" you will see my story about losing a job and falling into the pit of despair. Thank goodness I got help and I have turned my life around to where I am stronger than ever and more successful than I ever dreamed possible. Best wishes to you....
