Physical aftermath of attempted hanging suicide?!

Question:

Physical aftermath of attempted hanging suicide?

I rescued someone who tried to hang them self. The person is experiencing no feeling of neck, ears , back and upper arms on left side.Thank God this person is alive! Does anyone know why or if the feeling will come back?
The person doesn't appear to have brain damage. The doctor has discharged them.
Anyone know what has happened to their body and if it will return to normal? It has been about 10 days since the incident. I searched all over the net and cannot find a site with any info.
Please help.
Thank you!

Answers:

It might come back or it might not. The fact that it's only been 10 days and that the doctor says there are no signs of brain damage are both good and increase the odds of it coming back, but there is no way of knowing whether it will or not.

I don't know what doctors this person has seen and what tests have been done, but a neurologist would be the best person to ask and might be able to do additional testing and perhaps recommend certain rehabilitation exercises if appropriate.

Btw, I sure hope that this person is seeing a psychologist and such to deal with this and with whatever caused the suicide attempt? It's probably really important to be a good friend to this person while he/she's recovering... if you don't know how to deal with this/how tobe most supportive you can ask the person how you can be supportive and possibly ask a psychologist yourself.

Good luck. :)
