Has anyone used a petition for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation to help one!

Question:

Has anyone used a petition for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation to help one that tried several suicides?

I am not an immediate family member and this person does not want to go to rehab. She is causing much distress to her family and she needs help

Answers:

Yes.
You should be able to "baker act" the person. They are usually held for evaluation for 72 hours. After the 72 hours they can leave the facility or sign themselves in.
If the person has threatened suicide, they should be forced to get some help.
