Answers:
Normal moods (sadness, grief, and elation) are part of the normal fabric of life and are different from depression.
Grief, a type of reactive depression occurs with such symptoms, such as initial insomnia and agitation. These are normal responses to loss and separation.
In the depressive syndrome, the mood is typically depressed, irritable, or anxious, often accompanied by aches and pains, fears of calamity, or fears of going insane. It is often associated with crying spells or inability to cry or experience emotions.
You and your family may be experiencing grief in different ways. You may wish to discuss how you feel and seek their understanding and support.
As Dr. Carolyn Mein describes in her book entitled, Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils, the opposite emotion of grief is happiness. The way out statement is, "Change brings growth."
I hope this helps. Good luck.
