Do you think Suicide is a selfish act?!

Question:

Do you think Suicide is a selfish act?

I do not feel it is a selfish act. No one knows what is going on inside the persons mind. Life has to be pretty bad for a person to committe suicide, and if that is the only way out of a life of hellllllll then so be it. It is their life and they know what is best. They may have tried everything to resolve things and nothing worked and they could not go on living....

no matter how one dies, people are going to be devestated. If its a car crash, surgery or an illness. Death is hard on everyone. Yes I have had to very dear friends have a family member comitte suicide. But I still do not think it is selfishl life is not about making others happy but doing what you feel is the right thing.

Answers:

Nope... I think, as apparently you do... that it's an act of desperation... or maybe futility That's the suicide's problem. He, or she is tired of trying. Whether they're trying to succeed, to gain something, to get rid of something... nothing has worked. I don't think the suicide expects to achieve whatever it is they're striving for as a result of taking his or her own life. I would guess not. All they want is to get stop the futility.

I suppose to those left behind, it's selfish. But that's their problem. They can get over it, or they can let it fester inside them. They can remember the good the deceased did, or they can bash him or her for his or her last act. Talk about selfish.

Death is a natural part of a mortal life... That's what 'mortal' means.
