Does anyone have any information on depakote?!

Question:

Does anyone have any information on depakote?

Generally Speaking. If I, a relativly normal and stable person, took about 500 milligrams of depakote each night before bed....without a doctor saying I needed it...nor have no reason to take it....what are the possible effects this could have on me? In otherwords....what could depakote do to a person who didnt need to take it?

Also,
Are there any people that depakote could do more harm mentally than positive. For example, once I heard that ssrI's could be dangerous for people with Bipolor disorder. Are there any precautions for depakote? Can depakote trigger panic attacks, can it trigger suicidal thoughts? Can it make one go catatonic?

Ok, to clear up the worries i guess that I provoked, I'm actually writing a paper for my college class, and I'm talking about SSRI's and Mood Stab....thats the only reason why I came on here to get some opinions about it...than maybe I could find some info online to cite your opinions.

Answers:

This is not something to fool around with. Depakote is a great medication but can potentially have serious side effects such as fatal hemorrhagic pancreatitis, fulminant hepatitis, and a life-threatening rash called Stevens-Johnson's syndrome

Taking it if you didn't need to--well it could make you a little drowsy, you could feel a little slow mentally, you could get a tremor, you could gain weight, you could have nausea or GI upset, you could lose hair--all things you don't want so never take a med like this unless you have to!!!!!
