Prozac- how long to take effect?

I'm curently taking prozac for PMDD. I'm only on day 4 and I was wondering how long it takes to feel the effects or if I should be feeling them already. Also, will it calm me down slightly or will I feel like I'm stoned?

BTW I'm only supposed to take it 10 out of the month. Is this even long enough to do anything?

Most mood alterating medications like Prozac take ten to fourteen days to reach therapeutic level in the blood stream. Who prescribed the medication - your family doctor, gym or psychiatrist?

I would recommend you find a gym who specializes in PMDD and also go to www.webmd.com and read up on the diagnosis. The more you know the better you become an active member of YOUR treatment team. I would wonder if there are hormonal treatments that would help.

Give the Prozac time and if it helps, talk openly to the doctor of your reaction to the medication. I would recommend you start keeping a small diary so you don't have to recall things off the top of your head.
