I think i have an anxiety problem, i often seem to be sad, withdrawn and extreme!

Question:

I think i have an anxiety problem, i often seem to be sad, withdrawn and extremely panicky...help?

How can i make this go away without telling anyone, medications, doctor, etc? I have alot of major changes and struggles i'm dealing with, and i'm pretty sure this is why i feel this anxiety...but how can i help myself? These problems arn't going away anytime soon...

Answers:

Nikki..it is really good that you recognize what your issues are. I can only tell you from personal experience, that maybe it is time for you to seek help. You don't have to tell anyone you know...but you need to find someone outside your circle (go to a mental health clinic, a clergy person, a trusted teacher, etc). Part of what telling someone else (anyone else) about the problem does is you get to give a little piece of the anxiety away, and if you do this on a regular basis, it 1/ validates that you know what the problem is and that you are working on it (do not feel helpless and out of control) and 2/ you are being true to yourself (not catering or being concerned with others, but taking care of yourself because y ou deserve it. You are worth the time and effort to talk to a professional about this).

I do not know how old you are, but if you are over 18, you can get help at a clinic without anyone being notified. If you are under 18, I am not sure what the restrictions are, but probably would need parental permission...and that, of course, would require telling your parents. However, you, as a child, can go to a clergy person, or a teacher, or someone in authority to guide you.

I hope that helps...
