Answers:

If you are an adult paying for it yourself, then if you must tell them, feel that you must, just say you feel that it will help you lead a better quality of life.

If you are a teen and feel that you need more counseling. Tell them this from me: I was a teen who begged for counseling help and my parents said no. I ended up nearly self destructing, attempted suicide numerous times and it wasn't for attention.

If your parents were supportive of you in the past; tell that you know you need someone to talk to again; if you can share wtih them the reasons why, if not, ask them to trust you and let you return to therapy.

May I suggest the following as to picking a therapist. If the last counseling didn't really resolve the problems, try finding a therapist who one is for teens if you are a teen. Two, one that deals and has lots of experience with someone with your issues, such as anorexia or cutting or other self abuse. The more trained and experienced a therapists is in your specific issues, the more likely you are to heal and not need to return to counseling multiple times. I've also found one thing that seems to really help teens, is what's called LIFE COACHING therapy, they cousel you, but they also help you set up goals and learn out to really accomplish the goals you make for yourself, which then helps promote a healthier sense of self.

I WISH YOU THE BEST, don't do anything stupid if you're parents refuse you counseling, just keep trying to work through your issues on your own if necessary.
