What exactly does a manic episode consist of?!

Question:

What exactly does a manic episode consist of?

I know that maina is the up part of bipolar disorder, but what are some examples of a manic episode? Like, what does one do?

Answers:

Well I'm bipolar, and when I'm manic, I am at the top of the world. This is a good feeling, but the negative of mania, you talk too fast; your brain never shuts up; you can't sleep; your thoughts race so fast, you can't stay focused on any thing; your thoughts are like a humming bird flitting from flower to the next, and just as fast as a humming bird. Also when you are in mania episode, you usually love everyone, and every one loves you, or so you think. You will also talk unusually loud, almost like you are shouting. In one of the forums on bipolar that I write in, this is one of the comments someone made, "....the person will experience a chemically induced emotional roller coaster that takes form in what is called cycling, rapid cycling. One minute, day, week, or maybe even months, the person will experience an unusal amount of energy (mania) that will seem to be invigorating, but commonly results in irritability, anxiety, a heavy dose of head traffic, or racing thoughts, indulgence of various addictions, and other sporadic and impulsive behaviors." This is the behavior of one with bipolar 2, which is me. Bipolar 2's are hard to diagnose, as our sypmptoms are subtle, we can come across as just being irresponsible. But when that episode is gone, the old adage of "what goes up must come down," applies quite well to me. We can also have a detremental affect on those around us. Any way if you want more information go to www.helium.com and put in Tony Wininger, he was the author of the quote. RE: (Sweet Angels comment) That answer is talking about the depressive side of bipolar that says they sleep all day, cry a lot, etc. that is the depressive side of bipolar, what happens after the mania wears off.
