Possible to live with depression and....?!

Question:

Possible to live with depression and....?

It is possible to live with depression your whole life and not know it since you've never felt anything different? As I get older (29yrs) and more assertive I am starting to realize I have had the symptoms of depression my whole life!! Fatigue, lack of concentration, lack of interest in anything, no want to socialize...etc. I can't remember the last time I laughed for real. Has anyone experienced this or is just life?

Answers:

Yes it is very possible since most people who suffer from depression or bi-polar disorder (new term for manic-depressive) are never diagnosed. You need to talk to your doctor and he will do a slight exam and prescribe a small dosage of a antidepressent if needed and then re-examine you in a month. Most anti-depressents take about a month in your system to have any real effects, you will feel better pretty quickly only because your mind will let you believe that they are working even before anything changes in your body. It is something that you need to go and speak with a doctor about and not ignore or chalk up to just routine, you owe it to yourself.

To go a little further into this subject most people still don't understand depression is NOT a state of mind or feeling but a chemical imbalance in your body. Depression can ruin your life if not treated over a long period of time. As you can probably tell this is a serious subject with me.
