How do i overcome my issue with going to the gym?

hi

i am an 18 year old male, who has a really good body tone if it is worked on. the problem is that i dont like going to the gym, i feel lazy and for some reason i dont like going because some people i know go there and i dont know why but i really dont like talking to them, yet alone let them see me work out.

my question is how do i beat this procrastination and odd feeling.

Hi! First, your feeling isn't "odd" - it sounds like a bit of a self esteem issue. It seems to me that you are lumping 2 different problems together, and sometimes that makes fixing them that much harder. So, do you not like going to the gym because you don't feel like working out OR because you don't want to see these people? If you don't feel like working out, there are a number of things you can do to help motivate yourself - find some activities you really enjoy (running, swimming, basketball) and focus on that for a while. You may find you'll want to work out just to get better at what you enjoy doing. Or, you may be the type of person who doesn't like to work out in the traditional sense. If the real issue is the people, and you really DO want to work out, obviously, finding another gym might be an option. As someone else already posted working out at home is another solution.
