Black and white thinking?!
Question:
Black and white thinking?
I can't stand that the only way I can see things is in black and white. The thing that kills me is.... I realize this and I still can't see grey. I hate this! But I cant seem to change it. Anyone have any suggestions.
Answers:
Take a sociology course. It will teach you how to look at situations from different perspectives. Such as a conflict perscpective, symbolic interactionist, and functionalist perspective.
Also, start thinking in terms of how do I define the situation? How would my friend look at this. How about my parents. Ask others "what do you think?" Then ask them why do they feel this way. You don't have to agree with someone but just try to see it from others perspectives.
It can be quite fun thinking in different forms. Sometimes it can be confusing if your trying to figure out what you should do in a certain situation.
