What state of mind were you in when first using meth or heroine? What were your expectations?

I have done both and what triggered my using was the death of my mother who was very young when she passed away. I just didn't want to deal with her death and when someone offered, I was very vunrable and before I knew it I was gone, I was using daily and I had a three hundred or more dollar a day habit, I lost my kids, I lost my family , I lost my friends and nearly lost my mind. I ended up in jail...and when I got out of jail, the court required me to go to rehab,......and I am so glad that they did, becuase I believe it saved my life......I have been clean for three years now...and although at some times, when I am having a bad day or have alot of problems, I want to use again, I have to fight off the feeling and make myself remember what using those drugs got me. I hope you aren't using either, and please don't let someone talk you into it...even if they say it's cool or you can try it once. Everyone is different and although some ppl may be able to try a drug once and never use again, there are more than that who can't. Drugs are a dangerous and addictive thing and they can take your life so quick, you won't even know that it has happened until you are sitting behind bars and you have no one to depend on because you have burnt all your bridges.
