I need advice with Schizoaffective Disorder?

This is one of many "labels" my daughter's doctor thinks may be her illness. i know it has Bipolar/schizophrenia symptoms, with psychosis and depression.

No medications work for my daughter, but perhaps this new "label" there may be someone/s out there who have the same diagnosis and have a "cocktail" of meds that work/help treat this disorder. Hope you can help

Schizoaffective Disorder is generally treated with a combination of antipsychotics and mood-stabilizers. Sometimes an antidepressant is also needed. Not all meds or combos of meds work for all people. What may help dramatically for one person may not be effective for another. For psychiatric illnesses it's often a trial and error effort. She may have to try several different meds or combinations of drugs before she finds what works best for her. If she was previously diagnosed with Schizophrenia then she was probably only given antipsychotics and the mood component of her illness wasn't treated. If she was treated for bipolar disorder she may have only received antidepressants/ mood-stabilizers which don't always resolve psychotic symptoms in someone with Schizoaffective Disorder. Hopefully this is the accurate diagnosis and she can receive proper meds and relief from her symptoms.
