Has anyone been on Effexor XR had problems that show up after taking for a long time? I have found out that I?

have high cholesterol, thyriod problems and high blood presure. I have just read that effexor XR can cause this. I wonder what you did about it? Did you change meds?

First of all, a lot of people have WONDERFUL results from Effexor XR without side effects. My main problem was that it relieved me from having stressful thoughts, but it relieved me from having many thoughts at all. I took it for about a year and a half. When I finally went off it, I looked around me like "D***, what the Hell happened here?!!!" I had been a highly organized person, but I became totally disorganized. I am still suffering from it as I am overwhelmed by it all as I attempt to clean up the mess. (lots of paperwork in boxes and bins all over). I guess I was a zombie, without really knowing I was. I just hope I don't have any permanent damage as I seem to have lost the alertness I once had. I had been put on it by my medical doctor. My neuropsychologist told me she told me not to take it, but I do not remember her saying that. (And I'm sure she did.) On the other hand, my husband is bipolar with multiple personalities, and it has been a lifesaver for him. and the depressive end of his disorder. He refers to it as ***-kicker, meaning it gets him up and out of the bed. It had the opposite effect for me. So get a broad range of opinions and run them by your doctor and/or therapist.
