New Job Blues?

I just started a new job today. When I was 18-19 I had sex with a 15 year old and got her pregnant. I was charged.. went to jail.. and to this day me and this girl are still together and we have two children 6 and 1 1/2 years. What does this have to do with my new job? Someone who knew me back then works in the company I have a job at. I was called into the managers office and she told me she had been hearing rumors. I told her the truth and she still thinks that I will be a good asset to the company. Now I know how people think.. am I safe in this job? or should I disappear and find something else? I am now 26 and am off probation and that record was expunged from my record. Since that time I have graduated college and am trying to move on in my life. Oh yea, any negative "Hang yourself", "Castrate yourself".. yada yada "You dirty pervert" messages will be reported. I'm being real about this.

It's too bad that this unlucky coincidence happened, but if your boss knows the full story and doesn't have a problem with it, then I'd stick with the job awhile. Unless the place is really toxic and dysfunctional, most people will form their own ideas, rather than pay attention to gossip. Just let the fuss die down and wait it out. Be your best self, be your real self, and see what happens. It's too soon to dump this job, especially if it's one you like. You can re-evaluate a few months down the road, if necessary.
