I am horrified of tornadoes!!! some one help!!?!

I am horrified of tornadoes!!! some one help!!?

so, i have this huge phobia of tornadoes and i was wondering how i can over come this? first off i should say that i live in new england where there hasn't been a tornado in like 50 years but sometime last year i started having these horrifying dreams of tornadoes and now anytime i see a grey cloud, i et weak in the knees and i feel like i can't breathe.especially when we get severe thunderstorms, i fear that a tornado could start. what didn't help the situation was last year, i was at a beach in new hampshire with one of my friends and there was a huge tornado warning for our area. i was runnung around like a chicken with my head cut off. people were looking at me like i was phsyco and i embarrased my friend. now i'm even afraid to go to the beach this year because what if this happens again? people say i do it for attention, but i truly am afraid. no one belives me and truthfuly i just want to get over this fear. what can i do?(and yes i have anxiety pills but they don't help)

I lived in Illinois for 26 years, then in Iowa for 5 more years and never saw tornado one. You are WAY more likely to be hurt in a car accident. Given that tornadoes aren't a real threat your fear is irrational and you see a psychologist about it.
